Aesop Rosehip Seed Lip Cream Review

Aesop Rosehip Seed Lip Cream

I bought the Aesop Rosehip Seed Lip Cream from Lookfantastic when they had their Black Friday sales. Time was running out to get a decent discount and my lips had been playing up for ages so I added it to my bag and checked out without doing any research beforehand. I normally do read up on products though! Anyway, here is my review of the Aesop Seed Lip Cream.

A vitamin-rich blend formulated to replenish, soften and hydrate the delicate and sensitive skin of the lips. Formulated free from silicone and paraffin.

Aesop Rosehip Seed Lip Cream – My Thoughts

Firstly, it comes in a rather handy tube with a screw lid. I like the packaging. It’s simple and easy to throw in a handbag and not worry about any breakage it as it’s not glass. However, every time I unscrew the lid all the product immediately starts spilling out. As well as causing a bit of a mess, it honestly feels like such a waste. Aesop isn’t the cheapest of brands and for the price point of £10 for 6ml of product I don’t want to waste any of it, you know? I thought maybe I received a faulty product, but I’ve read a few reviews since then which have said the same thing about the packaging.

Once dispensed, the Aesop Rosehip Seed Lip Cream has light cream texture and a very strong scent. To me it smells very much of lavender with a hint of nut. It is noticeable even when applied, and if like me you are averse to the scent of lavender, you’d probably want to give it a miss. It’s a non-greasy formula and sinks into the lips immediately.

On the lips it does feel somewhat nourishing due to the rosehip. It leaves a sort of matte film on the lips though, I’m not sure how to describe it properly. It feels like something is on the lips and forming a barrier, but not how a regular lip balm feels.

If strong scents and a bit of wastage do not bother you, I would recommend the Aesop Rosehip Seed Lip Cream as it is moisturising and does seem to form a protective barrier to shield lips from the elements. It’s a nice enough product but personally I cannot justify spending £10 for 6ml of product waste most of it due to the pressure in the tube.
