Affordable Heroes – NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams

I think the cost of living crisis is affecting a lot of us. I have to admit to feeling like I have less disposable income than I did a few years ago. As a result of this I’ve been weaving in some affordable beauty products that have either replaced some of my more expensive buys, or that I use when I can’t afford the higher end option.

I thought it’d be interesting to start a series called “Affordable Heroes” where I share products that are reasonably priced and effective. The first of these is no stranger on this blog, it’s the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams. I’ve already reviewed NYX Cannes and Zurich in full. So this will be just a recap post, but in the future they’ll be more like mini reviews.

The NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams are liquid lipsticks that dry down to a matte finish. They’re very longwearing yet they’re comfortable and don’t dry out the lips. They have buildable coverage but still deliver good colour pay off with a single application. And they smell delicious, like vanilla cake.

Why do the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams make my Affordable Heroes list?

At £7 they’re extremely affordable. Although there might be other lipsticks from high street brands that compete in terms of price, the formula of these is top notch in my opinion.

The only thing I’d recommend is to try these in store. The colour swatches that are provided on websites are poor in my opinion, often not matching the shade advertised. I think some shades have been reformulated / changed slightly too as Zurich used to be a light warm pink on me but it’s now more of a reddish pink in tone and is a lot darker.

Have you ever tried the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams?
