The warmer weather is here, and while that might not be synonymous with dry, chapped lips, they need to be in top notch condition for those bright lip sticks.
I’m no stranger to lip products. I’ve had quite a collection and have reviewed many on my blog. From the pricy Aesop Rosehip Seed Lip Cream to the more affordable Lanolips Lemonaid Lip Treatment. I think the basis of keeping your lips in tip top condition is exfoliating them. You can do this with a flannel or a lip scrub, I like the Barry M Watermelon Lip Scrub.
I was looking for a super affordable lip balm I can just throw in my bag and not think about, and the Superdrug Blue Lip Balm Stick was recommended to me. It comes in a blue case (hence the name) and has a twist-up design. I prefer these to lip balms that come in glass pots, as no matter how clean your hands are they inevitably get a bit grim. It’s definitely cheaper than anything I’ve used before and costs £1.25 for one tube or £1.99 for two. Definitely makes me feel less bad when I inevitably lose one.
Superdrug Moisturising Original Lip Balm – My Thoughts
Superdrug’s Blue Lip Balm Stick has sweet almond oil in it to condition the lips. It does have a slight nutty scent, which does disappear after a few minutes.
On the lips it has a slight waxy consistency, that’s neither too thick or oily. It doesn’t tint the lips or leave them overly sticky or glossy, which you can sometimes find with other lip balms. Although it feels light on the lips, you can definitely tell it’s there and working. It also lasts a decent amount of time on the lips.
Since using this lip balm my lips have felt very soft and smooth. I think the real challenge will be using this during the winter, but for now I’m happy and you can’t really go wrong for £1.25.
The Blue Lip Balm Stick says “Moisturising Lip Balm Original” on the packaging. There are a few others with different scents such as the Shea Butter Lip Balm and Fruits Lip Balm but they’re slightly more expensive at £1.99 per tube.
All in all, I’m so happy with Superdrug’s original version of their lip balm stick. I’d definitely recommend it if you’re after something cheap and cheerful to keep in your handbag.
