I picked up Burberry Goddess Eau de Parfum recently as I had a discount voucher and it was on sale – here’s what I think of it.
Firstly, can we take a moment to admire the bottle? Although I’m more concerned with the juice inside, I am a sucker for a good bottle. I love the gold plate and the glass has a good weight to it. The lid is substantial and feels heavy, compared to the flimsy plastic lids you sometimes find on fragrances.
Burberry Goddess is described as a gourmand aromatic fragrance, with the vanilla making it lean gourmand while the lavender gives it an aromatic quality. For me this is very vanilla forward, as it’s a top, heart and base note. Burberry Goddess also has cacao and ginger which add another dimension to the fragrance. While I do not pick up much of the ginger, I do pick up the cacao which makes the scent slightly sweeter. I mainly get a burst of lavender on first spraying the perfume, but it dries down to a sweet vanilla.
In terms of longevity, it lasts around 6-7 hours on me and has a moderate projection. Burberry Goddess EDP retails for £68 for 30ml which I think is reasonable. The scent itself is really addictive and pretty. It feels like a mostly vanilla fragrance with a touch of lavender and cacao to me, and I’d say because of the scent profile it’s more suited to winter or colder weather.
Comparing Burberry Goddess Eau de Parfum to YSL Libre Eau de Parfum
I often see Burberry Goddess EDP and YSL Libre EDP compared with each other, along with Guerlain’s Mon Guerlain as they’re all lavender and vanilla perfumes. I recently mentioned YSL Libre in my Winter Perfume Picks post. I’ve not tried Mon Guerlain but own both YSL Libre and Burberry Goddess and I don’t think it’s redundant to have both.
YSL Libre feels more aromatic, it’s also a bit stronger, projects more, and is longer lasting. To me, YSL Libre is lavender with a touch of vanilla, whereas Burberry Goddess is very vanilla heavy with a touch of lavender. Libre is less sweet and leans more unisex, whereas Burberry Goddess leans more feminine to my nose (although anyone can wear whatever they like). Burberry Goddess is the creamier and warmer fragrance, whereas Libre has a certain coldness and airiness to it.
Have you tried Burberry Goddess EDP?
