Easy Eye Makeup Looks to Try This Spring

When spring arrives, I usually find myself reaching for lighter, fresher makeup. Heavy smokey eyes suddenly feel a little too much, and I start gravitating towards softer colours and simple techniques instead. Or sometimes just lighter make up overall.

The good news is that spring eye makeup doesn’t need to be complicated. A few easy tweaks can make your makeup look brighter and more effortless without requiring lots of products or precision.

These are the spring eye looks I find myself reaching for when I want something quick, flattering and easy to wear.

Soft champagne shimmer

A wash of champagne or light gold shimmer across the eyelids instantly brightens the eyes.

Some Champagne colours to try include.

I also sometimes like to apply MAC’s Bare Study on my lids and along my lower lash line. You can read my full review of Bare Study by MAC here.

Rosy pink eyes

Soft pink shadows feel very spring-like and flattering. They can work across all skin tones if you choose the right shade of pink.

For a fresh, romantic look, pair with different shades of pink for your blush and lipstick.

If you have fair skin, choose a lighter or peachy pink. Darker skin tones can get away with deeper hues.

Some pink eyeshadows to try include:

Warm peach tones

Peach eyeshadow looks incredibly flattering and gives a slightly sun-kissed feel. It’s one of those shades that instantly makes your complexion look brighter, especially after the grey winter months.

What I like about peach tones is that they sit somewhere between pink and orange, which means they warm up the eye area without looking too bold. A soft wash of peach shadow across the lid can look fresh and effortless, particularly when paired with glowing skin.

This look works beautifully alongside other warm spring tones, such as a peachy blush and glossy lips. It’s a great option when you want something that feels a little more colourful than a neutral eye but still very wearable.

Some peach-toned shadows to try include:

Soft brown liner

Instead of reaching for a black eyeliner, spring is a great time to switch to something softer like a brown pencil or shadow.

A soft brown liner still defines the eyes, but the effect is much more subtle and natural in daylight. I find it especially flattering when applied close to the lash line and gently smudged rather than drawn in a sharp line.

This technique adds a little depth to the eyes without making the makeup feel heavy. It’s also very forgiving if you’re in a hurry, as a slightly smudged liner actually looks intentional.

Soft brown liner works particularly well with lighter spring makeup – think glowing skin, rosy blush and a sheer lip colour.

I use the Revlon Colorstay Eyeliner Pencil in Brown 203.

    Subtle Glossy or luminous lids

If you want something that feels very modern and fresh, glossy or luminous eyelids are a lovely option for spring.

Instead of dramatic glossy lids seen on the runway, I prefer a softer luminous effect created with cream or liquid eyeshadows. These formulas catch the light and give the eyelids a slightly dewy sheen without looking overly glossy.

The effect is subtle but incredibly flattering, especially when the rest of your makeup is kept simple. A wash of luminous shadow paired with mascara and fresh skin can look polished without feeling overdone.

Products you can use to create this effect include:

Because these formulas blend easily with your fingertips, they’re also perfect for quick everyday makeup.

Tip: make sure to prime your eyelids before applying this look.

The best part about these eye looks is that they only take a few minutes to apply, which makes them perfect for everyday spring makeup.

Spring beauty is often about softness and light. I know once it starts to warm up again I want to wear make up that is quick and easy to apply and feels lightweight.

Instead of dramatic eyeshadow or heavy liner, small touches like champagne shimmer, peach tones or a softly smudged brown liner can brighten the eyes while still feeling effortless.

Sometimes the simplest makeup looks are the ones that feel the most polished.
