Essie Gel Couture Nail Polish Swatches and Review

I picked up a few Essie Gel Couture nail polishes in the shades Sizzling Hot and Signature Smile a few weeks back. I thought I’d share my thoughts on them now I’ve managed to wear them.

I’m a huge fan of Essie nail polishes in general. They’re so easy to find as they are stocked throughout the British high street in drugstores such as Boots, and on the ASOS website. The regular nail polishes retail for £7.99 but the Gel Couture nail polishes retail for £9.99. They promise a luxurious gel-like shine and finish. I also thought they’d last longer on the nails compared to the regular Essie nail polishes.

Essie Gel Couture Nail Polishes – The Packaging

Firstly, aren’t the bottles so cute? I love the twisted design and they fit in my hand nicely. The only concern is they are not shaped in a way I can easily squeeze one into my make up bag if I am going away or staying overnight somewhere. I love the brush that come with Essie nail polishes, its curved design makes the nail polish really easy to apply.

Essie Gel Couture Nail Polish – Sizzling Hot

The first shade I picked up was the Essie Gel Couture nail polish in “Sizzling Hot”. It’s a beautiful pink-based coral although the pictures show it pulling slightly more red. I used two coats but honestly it is so pigmented you could get away with one. The finish was highly glossy and I couldn’t stop looking at my nails when they were painted with this one.

Essie Gel Couture nail polish in Signature Smile

The second shade I picked up is Essie’s Gel Couture Signature Smile. I feel like it’s a bright bubblegum pink with a hint of orange that keeps it from looking too girly. It’s actually not a colour I would usually gravitate to, but I liked wearing it. I did find it chipped earlier than Sizzling Hot, and it wasn’t as pigmented. This is definitely a 2-3 coater.

With regards to longevity – I did think they’d last longer on the nails. I got about 3 days until it looked chipped enough for me to remove it, especially Signature Smile. To be honest though, they’re so easy and quick to apply it did not really bother me that much. The finish was absolutely stunning – so glossy!

Have you ever tried Essie’s Gel Couture nail polishes?
