I’ve seen Glossier Cloud Paint in Puff mentioned quite a lot as one of the best blush shades for fair skin.
It’s usually described as a soft, cool pink, which makes it sound like a very easy everyday option.
I’ve been using it for a while now, and while I do think it works well, I don’t think it’s quite what it’s often described as.
Glossier Cloud Paints are marketed as sheer but buildable blushes in a gel-cream formula. They give a soft-focus, natural look, which I particularly like in warmer weather.
The Cloud Paints retail for £24 for 10ml of product. The deeper, more pigmented shades tend to require less product, whereas lighter shades like Puff often need to be built up a bit more.
As they have a lightweight, dewy finish, they don’t have long-lasting power. I get about 4-5 hours wear.
Puff is generally described as a light pink, but in reality it leans more towards a peachy pink.
It doesn’t have that slightly blue-toned look you might expect from a true cool pink. Instead, it feels a bit warmer and softer on the skin.
Because of that, it looks quite natural rather than overly bright pink.
Cloud Paint has a very lightweight, gel-cream formula which blends out quite easily.
You only need a small amount, and it diffuses quite quickly into the skin, which makes it quite forgiving to apply. I usually apply with my fingers, and for the darker shades use a stippling brush to blend them out.
It doesn’t sit heavily or look powdery, and it works well over minimal base makeup.
On fair skin, Puff gives a soft, natural flush rather than a strong pop of colour.
I find it adds a bit of warmth to the face, which can be quite flattering, especially if you prefer a more subtle look.
Because the formula is quite sheer, it never looks too much, even if you build it up slightly.
I think if you have a deeper skin tone, you might have to use a lot more product for it to show up.
This is the part I think is slightly misleading.
Puff is often described as a cool-toned pink, but I don’t think it really reads that way on the skin.
It leans more peachy than expected, which makes it feel warmer and a bit more natural.
That’s probably why it still works so well on fair skin, but if you’re specifically looking for a true cool pink, this might not be quite what you’re expecting.
I mentioned this in my 8 Spring Blush Colours That Look Beautiful on Fair Skin post.
Glossier Cloud Paint in Puff is still a very easy, everyday blush, especially if you prefer something soft and natural.
It blends well, feels lightweight and works nicely on fair skin.
But I do think it’s worth knowing that it isn’t quite a true cool pink. It’s more of a peachy pink that gives a subtle, slightly warm flush.
