Kilian Paris Princess Eau De Parfum Review

I picked up a small travel size of Princess from By Kilian a few months ago and have really enjoyed wearing it.

The full name of this perfume is “I Don’t Need A Prince By My Side To Be A Princess” but that is long and rather cringe so most people know it as Princess. On Fragrantica, this is listed as an oriental vanilla but I don’t think that’s entirely accurate. It’s a green tea and marshmallow fragrance to me.

The published notes for this are green tea, marshmallow and ginger. I get all of these notes but the green tea and marshmallow are most prominent for me. It’s quite a sweet fragrance from the marshmallow but the tea note gives it a bit of freshness. I definitely think if you like tea notes in perfumes you should get your nose on this. It’s one of the many tea fragrances I’ve sampled where the note is clear and detectable throughout. In terms of wear, it’s quite a linear scent I’ve found, and doesn’t evolve too much on the skin.

The main criticism I’ve heard about Kilian’s Princess is the performance. I get about three hours wear time with a small – moderate projection. It’s definitely on the softer side, much like a marshmallow! I mentioned this in my “6 fragrances to wear in London” post because I think it has a likeable scent DNA but its performance means it’s not very intrusive. Also England = tea am I right?

Is Princess By Kilian worth the money?

Princess By Kilian retails for £115 for 50ml, or you can pick up a 10ml travel size for £28. In terms of whether it’s worth the money, I think it depends on whether you enjoy the fragrance. It’s definitely unique and has a distinctive tea note that I think any tea lover will enjoy. On the down side, its performance is on the lower end. If you’re interested in trying it, I’d recommend picking up the travel size first as you can then reapply on the go.

Do you like tea based fragrances?
