MAC Amplified Lipstick in Cosmo Review

As if I need any more MAC lipsticks in my life, haha. Then I go to the MAC store near my work, and goodness knows why, MAC Cosmo is calling my name and I pick it up!

MAC Cosmo comes in the typical MAC packaging. It’s bullet shaped and hard wearing. You can slick the lipstick on and chuck it in your handbag and it won’t get damaged.

MAC Cosmo is a warm-toned medium pink in the Amplified formula. It’s quite a bit darker than my natural lip colour, and as I have fair skin it looks like a warm mid-pink rather than a nude. It has just enough brown to make it quite muted and not too bright though. I’ve seen those with darker skin tones wear Cosmo and it appears a lighter pink.

One thing I love about MAC’s Amplified formula is that it really packs a punch when it comes to colour pay-off. These lipsticks are very pigmented but I feel like colours such as Cosmo are still very wearable. The formula is also comfortable to wear, it sort of sits between a cremesheen and a matte and lasts about four hours on the lips. I’ve written a guide that explains the differences between MAC lipstick formulas if you want more information.

MAC Amplified Lipstick in Cosmo – My Verdict

I think MAC Cosmo is perfect for someone who wants to wear a lipstick that isn’t too bold, but isn’t a nude. It’s dark and pink enough to stray from the nude category, but it’s not too bold. It’s perfect for a Christmas party if you’e not really into your reds. Or paired with a minimal make up look.

MAC Cosmo retails for £17.50 for 3g of product. It’s high end for sure, but it’s so pigmented I can imagine it will last a long time.

Have you ever tried MAC Cosmo?
