NARS Audacious Lipstick in Anita Review

I have had the NARS Audacious Lipstick in Anita for a long while now. It was one I used to wear daily for a long time, and then for some reason I bought Pillow Talk by Charlotte Tilbury and completely forgot about it. I think it’s a fantastic neutral lipstick for every day use. I was almost going to mention it in my Best Nude Lipsticks for Fair Skin post but I think it pulls just a smidgen too dark. Having said that, it’s not a dramatic in-your-face-colour at all.

NARS Anita comes in the typical matte black NARS packaging. The corners are squared off and it has a magnetic fastening. I like that the packaging isn’t rubberised like the blushers, lip pencils and their other lipsticks ranges are. It doesn’t seem to attract dirt as easily, and looks presentable for a lot longer.

NARS Anita lipstick is described as a rose on the website and I’d agree. It’s very demure. It’s a brown-toned pink that I’d think would suit many skin tones and complexions as it doesn’t pull too warm or cool toned. NARS Anita has got just enough depth of colour that prevents it from washing anyone out.

The Audacious lipstick range by NARS promises full colour payoff, and Anita is no different. One swipe is all you need to achieve full coverage. The lipstick has a soft matte finish which is comfortable and not at all drying. In fact, it feels creamy on the lips and feels relatively moisturising. I also find NARS Anita makes lips appear fuller. I do find the NARS Audacious lipstick in Anita to be ever so slightly heavy, but the thicker consistency does paint over any cracks on the lips so swings and roundabouts! You know you’re wearing it and it feels like you’re wearing a thick lip balm.

All in all, NARS Anita is a good lipstick if you want something you can wear every day, which is just that little bit deeper than a nude. On slightly deeper skin tones, I could imagine it being a holy grail for those looking for a nude lipstick! Priced at £26, it’s not the cheapest, but I think it’d make a good present or gift to yourself for a special occasion. Especially as it’s such a wearable colour.
