I’ve got to be honest, I’m not so much of a highlight fiend. I am actually not sure what possessed me to buy the NARS Copacabana Illuminator, apart from it looked so lovely in the tube and I wanted to experiment. I know I could have bought a cheaper one but I find highlights are either too pigmented or dark for my skin tone.
Although Copacabana looks pink in the tube, one applied to the skin it’s actually more pearlescent. It reminds me a bit of Benefit’s High Beam. I think Copacabana is the perfect shade if you’re fair skinned like me. NARS do stock other liquid highlighters in different shades though if you have darker skin. Copacabana is very pigmented, and only a small amount is needed. It’s just as well really, because for £23 it’s not cheap. The squeeze tube packaging is handy as you can squeeze the smallest amount out, minimising wastage. I usually apply the tiniest bit with a stippling brush, and layer if needed.
NARS Copacabana Illuminator – My Thoughts
I normally apply the NARS Copacabana Illuminator to my cheekbones, or where ever the light hits naturally. It gives a lovely natural, dewy finish. I find often highlight powders can leave my skin looking a bit dry so liquid is always best for me. It’s a really versatile product and although I have not tried it, I could imagine it could be mixed with foundation to add a glow and a more dewy finish. Although it’s in liquid form, it still has excellent staying power.
NARS Copacabana Illuminator has lasted me absolutely ages, and to be honest that’s why I’ve not reviewed it until now. It’s one of those make up products that has become a staple, and I mindlessly grab it in the morning now without even acknowledging it. I just thought I’d share if you’re on the hunt for a new highlighter!
