Nest New York Indigo Eau De Parfum Review

Nest New York Indigo Eau De Parfum

I’m having a bit of a tea moment with perfumes recently. I’m finding perfumes with a tea note really intriguing and comforting to wear.

One of the perfumes I picked up with a distinctive tea note is Indigo by Nest. I wasn’t sure if I wanted a full bottle so I bought an 8ml travel spray version for £28. This size works for me as it’s portable and I wasn’t sure how much wear I’d get out of a perfume people claim is more for colder weather, especially since we’re coming into spring.

Firstly, can we talk about the bottle? The larger versions are the same and I love the artwork, it really complements the scent inside. I believe the art is inspired by Mary Delany, an 18th century British artist.

Nest perfumes in general are inspired by founder Laura Slatkin’s trip to Europe in 1992. Indigo is an “exploration of the Mediterranean with notes of Italian lemon, orange bergamot, Moroccan tea, Kashmir wood, and wild figs from the south of France.”

The fragrance itself opens with a bright citrus note and dries down to a very juicy and jammy fig with tea notes. If you’ve ever had a berry herbal tea, this smells just like that. It’s quite different to anything I’ve got in my collection. Despite the jamminess of the fig, it does have a certain freshness which stops it from becoming too cloying and heavy, although it’s definitely on the sweeter side. It has moderate projection and longevity on me – about 5-6 hours.

Comparison between Nest Indigo and Vilhelm Dear Polly

A lot of people recommend Nest’s Indigo as a more affordable dupe to Vilhelm’s Dear Polly. I’ve tried both and they’re different to my nose. Dear Polly has an apple note which adds a bit of tartness and green citrus. It also has a smoky note. Indigo is a lot more fig forward, and is sweeter than Dear Polly.

Nest Indigo is priced at £82 for 50ml which I think is well priced. If you’re looking for a sweet, jammy, fig tea scent it could be the one for you.
