The REN Jelly Oil Cleanser is marketed as a gentle yet effective cleansing treatment that is clinically proven to remove waterproof make up. Indeed, I have used it and it effectively removes make up, pollution and SPF, and feels gentle enough to use around the eye area. Despite being such an effective cleanser, it does not feel stripping. Instead, skin feels soft and supple after use.
The cleanser boasts a tri-phase formulation; firstly dispensing as a rather firm jelly, then turning into an oil and then a milk upon contact with water. It feels luxurious and gentle on the skin. I think it would be more suited to dry / normal skin types, and oily / blemish-prone skin types may have to use the product sparingly.
Ingredients such as glycerin help to hydrate the skin, whilst the inclusion of oils (grape, sunflower and meadowfoam) help to rejuvenate and regenerate the skin. Despite the inclusion of oils, the cleanser never feels heavy or leaves a film on your skin. The product is lightly fragranced, it is listed is natural but it is good to point out in case you have any allergy / are sensitive towards fragrances.
At £25 for 100ml it is not the cheapest cleanser on the block. However, as it is so effective at removing makeup, a little goes a long way. From an ethical perspective too, REN are cruelty free and the packaging is environmentally conscious, being made from no less than 50% recycled materials and being completely recyclable itself.
