REN Ready Steady Glow Daily AHA Tonic Review

I bought The REN Ready Steady Glow Tonic over the winter months, just in the little travel size to test out. The images were sitting in my inbox for a long time but I didn’t have the motivation to post about it until now.

I generally like REN products and was keen to try out this tonic. The REN website claims that the tonic  exfoliates, brightens, tightens and hydrates for a smooth, even and energised complexion that’s all glow without the irritation. It also claims to be gentle enough for daily use.

The Ready Steady Glow Daily AHA Tonic contains Lactic Acid to exfoliate the skin, and Salicin from Willow Bark to dissolve in-pore build up, helping skin to appear smoother. It’s mainly aimed towards dry and rough skin, as the ingredients exfoliate and hydrate, and makes the skin appear brighter.

On first impressions, even though it sounds shallow, I really like the packaging. The bottle isn’t overly decorative and won’t take centre stage on my beauty shelf, but it’s functional and the plastic is 100% post-consumer recycled. The smell of the actual tonic though is not that pleasant. It’s very chemically, which a hint of plastic orange. Fortunately it doesn’t linger on the skin but it may be a deal breaker for those with sensitive noses.

I follow the directions and saturate a (reusable) pad. I then swipe the pad across my face. The product tingles slightly for a few seconds but it’s not unpleasant and doesn’t burn. As I used the product in winter, I had a few dry patches and I can confirm they were effectively exfoliated. The product did leave a slight filmy residue on my skin though, and although my skin felt moisturised and nourished, I had to rinse my face afterwards. I also used the tonic at night time rather than in the morning as my skin is sometimes prone to redness and this brought it out a little.

REN Ready Steady Glow Tonic – My Thoughts

I did notice after a few uses my skin looked brighter and my complexion was more even. I do like how the REN Ready Steady Glow Daily AHA Tonic effectively exfoliated my skin and nourished it at the same time too.

The only downsides for me would be the smell and the residue it left on my skin. I also think some with sensitive skin types might have a harsher reaction to the chemicals in it, so I’d recommend doing a patch test first.

Have you used any REN products before? How do you find them?
