Summer Nail Polish Colours for 2020

Summer’s almost here (I suppose?). So these are my summer nail polish colour picks for 2020.

Once the sun arrives I dig my sandals out. That means one thing, painted nails! I never really bother in the winter but in the summer I make more of an effort. Probably because the sun gives me more energy but also because I’m out and about more! I tend to change nail polish colour with the seasons. On the rare occasion I paint my nails in the autumn or winter, it’s always Essie’s Bahama Mama. In the summer I tend to go for brighter colours.

Summer 2020 Nail Polish Colour Picks

For the record, I almost exclusively wear Essie nail polishes. They’re so easy to get a hold of as places like Boots and Superdrug stock the brand,.They also have a wide range including some fab summer colours and I think they apply really nicely. Both of the colours I chose have great formulas that aren’t streaky.

Essie Nail Polish in Watermelon

Essie’s Watermelon nail polish is a bright fuschia. It’s so vibrant and one of my favourite colours to wear on my toes. It’s not a gel formula so it’s not as glossy but that’s easily sorted with a top coat if you like your nails super shiny. I find Essie’s Watermelon applies really easily and you only need to apply two coats for full coverage. Which is great because I do not have the patience to apply multiple coats.

Essie Gel Couture Nail Polish in Sizzling Hot

I reviewed the Essie Gel Couture nail polishes last year so go check it out if you want something a bit more in depth. Essie’s Gel Couture Polish in Sizzling Hot is a gorgeous pink-toned coral. It’s super glossy and slicks on easily. It looks great on fair skin but similarly I think it’d look great with a tan or on deeper skin tones.

The Gel Couture range is slightly more expensive than the regular nail colours, coming in at £9.99 each rather than £7.99. But they offer a glossy finish and are slightly longer lasting, so depends what you want from a nail polish (I just want to collect them all, haha).

Do you change up your nail polish colours for the seasons? What nail polish colours will you be wearing in summer 2020?
