I recently featured the S’well Traveler Bottle in my Favourites from 2024 post, but I had not yet reviewed it!
I bought the S’well Traveler Bottle in the pattern Rose Agate in September and have used it every day since. Although I still enjoy using my Stanley Iceflow Flip Straw Tumbler, I’ve found this one a little more versatile.
S’well Traveler Bottle Specification
The Traveler Bottle boasts therma-S’well technology with triple-layered, vacuum insulated construction. It comes in several sizes, from a 470ml (16oz) bottle to a 1.13L (40oz) bottle. It’s made from 18/8, food-grade stainless steel, and is condensation-free exterior so it won’t sweat in your hands or bag. The bottle is also BPA/BPS-free and reusable. The wide mouth on the bottle is ideal for filling it up with ice, or fishing out rogue teabags. You can find all sorts of colours and finishes on their website, from matte to glossy, plain coloured to patterned. It’s also leakproof so you don’t have to worry about any spillages.
I picked up the 470ml size because I already have larger bottles in my collection and wanted something light and portable. At 0.8lb when empty it’s definitely that! I think the bottle itself is so cute and I love the pattern. It makes me want to use it because I enjoy looking at it.
Sharing my thoughts on the S’well Traveler Bottle
If you’ve not guessed already from it being featured in my Favourites from 2024 post – I like this bottle.
I find myself reaching for this when I’m going out briefly and want something lightweight – it’s perfect for that. I can fill it up with ice cold water before I leave the house and then with coffee if I make a pitstop somewhere. The 16oz size is a bit small if you’re planning on taking it on an all day hike, but it’s an ideal size if you want to use it for multiple purposes throughout the day, or can easily refill your bottle on the go. My Stanley Iceflow is 30oz and I couldn’t really imagine asking a barista to fill that up with coffee ever.
I’m not sure if it’s the triple-layered insulation, but my drinks always stay hot or cold for ages. S’well say on their website that the Traveler can keep drinks cold for 24 hours or hot for 12. In my experience it definitely lives up to its claims. I put a hot drink in it at 10am and by 10pm it still had steam coming off it when I opened the lid. In a way its a victim of its own success as I had to keep the lid off for a while until the liquid was a comfortable temperature to drink. Talking of lids, it does get slightly warm when there’s a hot drink inside. It’s not enough to cause discomfort but it’s worth noting.
I’m a bit confused as to whether it’s dishwasher safe or not. The S’well website mentions it’s dishwasher safe but I bought my model elsewhere and it said hand wash only. I like to throw caution to the wind and wash mine by hand which isn’t too much of a chore as it has a wide mouth and there’s not too many nooks, crannies or detachable bits.
The pricing for these bottles is a bit all over the place. I’ve seen them priced at £28 which is a little steep to £12.99 for the 16oz which is very reasonable for what you’re getting.
All in all, I really love this bottle. It’s easy to throw in a bag without thinking and has many uses. I’d recommend it (especially this size) to anyone looking for something versatile, as you can often get it for a bargain .I think the only drawback is the wide mouth as it’s not easy to chug water from and there are no different lid options.
Do you own a reusable water bottle?
