Valentino Donna Born In Roma Review

Valentino Donna Born in Roma was launched in 2019 and in recent years it has become one of the most talked-about modern designer fragrances – loved for its sweet floral profile and easy wearability. But is it worth adding to your collection? Here’s my full review after wearing it for a few months.

Valentino’s Donna Born in Roma is a floral perfume inspired by Rome. It has notes of jasmine sambac, cashmeran, vanilla bourbon, blackcurrant, pink pepper and guaiac wood.

To me this opens fruity and fresh with the blackcurrant, but as it dries down it gets sweeter as more of the jasmine and vanilla peeks through.

Performance, longevity and projection

It performs well and has good longevity. I get a medium projection for around 6 hours and then a more intimate projection for a couple of hours after that. If I spray it on a sweater it holds the scent and I can still smell it the next day.

Who is Donna Born in Roma for?

I feel like Valentino’s Donna Born in Roma is a rather youthful fragrance. The florals are quite light and the depth comes from the vanilla bourbon. It’s a very fun and flirty fragrance which I think most people would find likeable. It’s very approachable and there aren’t any challenging or polarising notes. That’s not to say it’s boring. It’s just a fragrance you can wear when you want to reliably smell good without thinking too much.

Bottle design and feel

The fragrance itself comes housed in a small cube bottle which is slightly textured with blunt spikes, and has a matching spiked lid. The juice itself is pink, which I think is the perfect colour for a fragrance like this.

Occasions to wear Valentino Donna Born in Roma

This is a sweet, fun and flirty fragrance that’s suitable for casual outings and lowkey dates. I mentioned it in my romantic perfumes for Valentine’s Day post and it is really the perfect pick when you want something pretty.

The best season to wear Donna Born in Roma

To me, this is definitely a fragrance for the cooler months. I’d say from October – the beginning of March. It has a slight sweetness and warmth that I could imagine could be overwhelming in the warmer months.

Overall, Donna Born in Roma is a dependable, pretty fragrance that’s perfect when you want something feminine and effortless. If you enjoy soft florals with a sweet vanilla base, it’s definitely worth trying.
