Gucci Bloom Eau de Parfum Review

I remember a while ago I posted a comparison between Gucci Bloom and Diptyque Do Son. In my review I said I was less keen on Gucci Bloom but I’ve had some time with it and I’ve grown to really enjoy it now. Plus, it’s a good bit cheaper than Diptyque Do Son so I feel less bad wearing it often during the warmer months.

Gucci Bloom is a white floral perfume and mainly comprises tuberose and jasmine notes. It has a little rangoon creeper in the base – a note I am unfamiliar with – which adds a bit of powderiness.

The scent lasts reasonably well on the skin (6 hours or so) yet its linear personality never feels cloying or boring. There’s something nice about a simple white floral perfume that smells exactly how you’d expect.

Diptyque Do Son vs Gucci Bloom

I’d say the inclusion of rangoon creeper is what sets it apart from Diptyque’s Do Son eau de toilette. While Do Son leans more green with a salty note, Gucci Bloom is strictly white floral. Wearing Gucci Bloom is like sticking your nose into a bouquet of flowers, excluding the stems. While it lacks the complexity of Do Son, it’s still charming in its own way.

I’m finding it hard to talk about Gucci Bloom without being in relation to Do Son, only because I enjoy Do Son so much. They’re about 90% similar, and share a lot of notes, done in the same way. However the subtle differences may make both worth owning, if you’re a fan of white florals or are looking for a cheaper every day alternative to Do Son.

I think Gucci Bloom will appeal to those looking for a straightforward white floral. I think it’s a likeable perfume if you enjoy your white florals, and can often be found on offer. Here it’s £40.95 for 30ml.

Do you enjoy white floral perfumes?
