Over the last year and a half or so I’ve found myself getting more and more into fragrance. Mostly because I still work from home the majority of the time and wearing a perfume is so much quicker and requires much less effort than putting on a full face of make up if I still want to feel put together. Don’t get me wrong, I still love my lipsticks and blush, but they take longer to apply in the mornings.
While my collection is still quite modest, I’ve added a few perfumes this year which I’ve really enjoyed wearing. Narciso Rodriguez’s For Her Musc Noir is one of them. I’ve found that if you’re after a musky perfume, you can’t go wrong with Narciso Rodriguez.
The top note in Musc Noir is plum and the base note is a leather suede accord. There is some heliotrope and musk in the middle but for me I mainly get the plum, musk and a soft leather. It’s beautiful and very feminine, and is sweet without being cloying. To me, it’s a fruity-floral musk with a bit of leather.
I find Musc Noir a great perfume for everyday wear. It’s light with a soft sillage and projection so you’re unlikely to offend anyone nearby. It’s definitely not a strong or overpowering scent and it’s difficult to overspray.
Longevity is on the lower end, I get about 3 hours wear on skin and 4-5 hours on clothes. Usually that would disappoint me but since I only wear this during the day it’s so easy to switch to an evening scent. Musc Noir isn’t something I’d wear on a date night although I’d say it is very pretty, feminine and a bit sexy. It doesn’t have that performance I’m looking for at night time, but as a daytime fragrance it’s really easy going. It’s just likeable and easy to wear, you know? There are no challenging aspects to the fragrance or notes that are too out there. I think Musc Noir can be worn year round as it’s light enough for the spring and summer but the plum and suede combination give it a bit of depth for the cooler months.
You can often find this perfume discounted online. 30ml usually retails for £63 which I think is overpriced considering its lightweight performance, but I picked up my bottle for just over £30. At the time of writing this it’s on sale at Debenhams for £65 for 100ml which I think is reasonable. There are places where you can pick up a 30ml for less than £30 too.
Do you have any go-to daytime fragrances?
