What’s in my October beauty bag?

It’s really starting to get cooler now and the nights are drawing in. I find this is the time of year where I start to swap out the beauty products in my make up bag. Gone are the corals and lighter bases, and in come the deep plum lipsticks and hydrating skincare products.

Clinique Black Honey Almost Lipstick

Most of these products I’ve spoken about on my blog already. Although there is one I haven’t and that’s the Clinique Black Honey Almost Lipstick. This is a lovely sheer lip balm that has a glossy finish. On me, it is a sheer plum colour that is perfect for this time of year, and the extra hydration keeps chapped lips at bay.

    Glossier Cloud Paint in Haze

When I want a “just in from the cold” look I pair Glossier’s Cloud Paint in Haze with Clinique’s Black Honey Lipstick. This is a lovely fuchsia colour in a gel-creme formula that doesn’t highlight any dryness. Just the perfect shade for this time of year. I reviewed Glossier’s Cloud Paint in Haze here.

Liz Earle’s Skin Repair Light Cream

Although I want some extra hydration, my skin isn’t ready for super heavy moisturisers yet. The Liz Earle Skin Repair Light Cream is perfect for this time of year. It’s really lightweight but hydrating. I reviewed it in more depth here and I’d really recommend it if you want something moisturising that absorbs really quickly into the skin.

    Foreo Luna Mini 2

I’ve reviewed the Foreo Luna Mini 2 on my blog before and concluded that it wasn’t worth the money. I still think £120 is way too much for this as it’s essentially an electronic exfoliation device.

However, I did caveat my review to say that I’d recommend it if you can get it on offer and I stand by that. It is great at exfoliating the skin and during the colder months I need to do that more often to get rid of dry skin and flakiness. I use quite a moisturising cleanser with this and slap on a bit of Liz Earle’s Skin Repair Light Cream and my skin is soft and supple for the day.

So in short, while I’d not suggest running out and buying this at £120 retail price, it is worth it if you can get it on offer. And exfoliating is a step I try not to skip during the colder months.

The Inkey List’s Oat Cleansing Balm

I use this along with my Foreo Luna Mini 2 and that combo is just *chef’s kiss*. I’ve reviewed this before but it’s basically a balm with oat kernel oil which gently lifts away daily grime and make up from the skin while leaving it hydrated. I’d really recommend this to anyone else who finds cleansers leave their skin feeling tight uncomfortable in the colder months.

Not only that but it’s really well priced at £12 for 150ml. I bought mine from Cult Beauty.

Do you swap out your skincare and make up products in the colder months?

Also, my bag in these pictures is the Elizabeth Scarlett Mystical Eye Ink Blue Everyday Pouch. I keep it in my everyday handbag but it’s big enough to function as an overnight make up bag too. It’s also velvet which I think is such an autumn / winter fabric. I love it!
