Foreo Luna Mini 2 – My Experience and Review

Foreo Luna Mini 2

I bought the Foreo Luna Mini 2 back in August 2024 and use it most days. Here’s my review of it and whether I think it’s worth the money.

I feel like these skincare gadgets have been around for a while now. 13 or so years ago the Clarisonic was all the rage but that’s no longer being manufactured. Now, the Foreo Luna has gained popularity.

The Foreo Luna Mini 2 is a small cleansing brush that’s made out of silicone which is meant to make it 35x more hygienic than brushes made from nylon. It has thick, thin and medium silicone touchpoints designed for different areas of the face and skin types. I tend to use the side with the thinner touchpoints, but if you have oiler skin or need something more abrasive the thicker touchpoints would work well.

The Foreo Luna Mini 2 also has 8 different settings, which you can switch between by pressing the + and – buttons on the device. When pressing the “+” button, the intensity of the pulses increases. You’re meant to use the device for 60 seconds in total, spending 15 seconds on each area of your face (t-zone, forehead, each cheek). The device buzzes after 15 seconds to let you know when it’s time to move on. It also buzzes when 60 seconds is up.

Finally, the Foreo Luna Mini 2 is rechargeable. The battery lasts a long time though, and one hour of charge can last for over 5 months.

Foreo Luna Mini 2 – The good bits

I’ve got quite a bit to say about this nifty little device, so I’ll say what I enjoy about it first.

I love that the Foreo Luna Mini 2 is extremely portable and has an attractive design. It’s lightweight, takes up very little space in my bag and can survive a few knocks. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve dropped this in the shower and it’s still going strong. It’s also waterproof (thank goodness).

It also lives up to its promise of having a long battery life. I purchased the Foreo Luna Mini 2 in August 2024 and I haven’t charged it yet.

I love the different settings, and silicone thicknesses. It feels like it’s designed to accommodate all skin types, and the tapered edge is really effective at getting into those nooks and crannies. The different pulses also feel quite relaxing, and my skin feels soft and exfoliated after use.

The device also forces me to really take the time to work a cleanser into my skin. Before, I used to quickly rub a cleanser into my skin and then take it off with a flannel, whereas now I make sure to pay attention to every section of my face.

I know there’s a larger version, but I find the Mini is sufficient and a fair bit cheaper.

Foreo Luna Mini 2 – The not so good

Foreo Luna Mini 2

There are some things I’ve found underwhelming, or at least not so good about the Foreo Luna Mini 2.

First and foremost, the Foreo Luna feels like an incredibly expensive way to exfoliate the skin. I have no idea what benefit the pulses really have. If you already have a dedicated skincare routine that includes effective exfoliation, you might find this tool redundant.

The + and – buttons can be quite difficult to press, especially when you have wet hands. I use my Foreo in the shower and it takes me several attempts to switch between the settings, or to turn the thing off for that matter. You have to apply quite a lot of pressure and that’s not always possible when you have cleanser all over your fingers!

It’s difficult to know when 60 seconds is over, or when to move onto the next section of your face. Sometimes the buzzing is too faint for me to realise. Apparently a light flashes as well but I can’t see that when I’m using it in the shower. This seems like an oversight in the way the product was engineered rather than something innately wrong with it. But it can be a bit annoying.

Is the Foreo Luna Mini 2 worth it?

This is a hard question to answer because it depends on your specific skincare needs. I think if you already have an effective skincare routine, this might feel unnecessary unless you’re a skincare enthusiast with some pennies taking up space in your purse.

If you want something that will force you to take more care with your skin, this might be worth it. The ritual of using it feels very luxe to me, and the pulses are quite relaxing. It really feels like I’m taking a moment for myself for self care, more than what slapping a cleanser on my face before bed would feel like.

I think the £120 recommended retail price is way too high. Fortunately it’s usually on offer (on Amazon you can pick one up for £34.99). At a discounted price I’d recommend it if you haven’t got the exfoliation step down in your routine yet. For everyone else I’d say this isn’t a must have unless you’re very much into your skincare.
