Broadway Market London Guide: What to Expect, What to Eat & Tips

Broadway Market is one of my favourite markets in London. Located in East London, it runs from London Fields down towards Regent’s Canal and is known for its mix of street food, vintage stalls and independent shops.

It’s not the biggest market in London, but it’s one of the most characterful. If you prefer something a little more relaxed and less overwhelming than some of the larger markets, it’s well worth visiting.

What Broadway Market is like

Broadway Market stretches along a relatively short street, but there’s a lot packed into it. On Saturdays, the road fills with stalls selling everything from food and drink to vintage clothing and handmade goods.

The street itself is lined with cafés, small shops and bookshops, so it’s easy to spend a bit longer here than you might expect. It feels more like a neighbourhood market than a tourist attraction, which is part of its appeal.

What you can buy at Broadway Market

Although it’s not huge, there’s a surprising amount of variety. Some of the things you’ll typically find include:

  • street food (including pastries, juices and international food stalls)
  • vintage clothing and accessories
  • handmade goods and crafts
  • fresh fruit and vegetables

It’s a good place to browse as much as it is to buy something specific.

The atmosphere

One of my favourite things about Broadway Market is that it still feels quite genuine.

A lot of London markets, once they become popular, can start to feel quite commercial. Broadway Market still has a mix of long-standing East End traders alongside newer independent sellers, which gives it a more local, relaxed feel.

You’ll often see street performers and buskers along the market as well, which adds to the atmosphere. It feels a bit more informal and lively compared to some of the bigger, more structured markets.

Is Broadway Market worth visiting?

Broadway Market is a good choice if you prefer smaller, more relaxed markets with a mix of food, vintage finds and independent shops.

It’s less overwhelming than somewhere like Borough Market, but still has plenty to see and do. It’s also a nice one to combine with a walk around London Fields or along Regent’s Canal.

When to visit Broadway Market

Broadway Market runs every Saturday and tends to get busy from late morning into the early afternoon.

If you prefer a quieter visit, it’s worth going earlier in the day or later in the afternoon once the crowds start to thin out.

How to get to Broadway Market

The nearest station is London Fields (Overground), which is just a short walk away.

You can also reach the market by bus, with routes including 236 and 394 stopping nearby.

Final thoughts

Broadway Market is one of those places that’s easy to return to. It’s smaller and less polished than some of London’s bigger markets, but that’s part of what makes it feel more authentic.

If you enjoy exploring markets in London, it’s definitely one to add to your list.
