Post Christmas pick-me-ups
I don’t know about you, but I always find January quite a gloomy month. I don’t mind the chilly days and dark evenings in the lead up to Christmas, but I tend to get into a bit of a slump come January. I’m back at work now and also doing a short course during the evenings, so that coupled with the cold and dark is making me feel so lethargic. I usually treat myself to a little post-Christmas pamper on the days I have nothing planned. I find this just lifts my mood a little bit. Here are some of
S’well Traveler Bottle Review
I recently featured the S’well Traveler Bottle in my Favourites from 2024 post, but I had not yet reviewed it! I bought the S’well Traveler Bottle in the pattern Rose Agate in September and have used it every day since. Although I still enjoy using my Stanley Iceflow Flip Straw Tumbler, I’ve found this one a little more versatile. The Traveler Bottle boasts therma-S’well technology with triple-layered, vacuum insulated construction. It comes in several sizes, from a 470ml (16oz) bottle to a 1.13L (40oz) bottle. It’s made from 18/8, food-grade stainless steel, and is condensation-free exterior so it won’t sweat
Burberry Goddess Eau de Parfum Review
I picked up Burberry Goddess Eau de Parfum recently as I had a discount voucher and it was on sale – here’s what I think of it. Firstly, can we take a moment to admire the bottle? Although I’m more concerned with the juice inside, I am a sucker for a good bottle. I love the gold plate and the glass has a good weight to it. The lid is substantial and feels heavy, compared to the flimsy plastic lids you sometimes find on fragrances. Burberry Goddess is described as a gourmand aromatic fragrance, with the vanilla making it lean
Favourites from 2024
As 2024 draws to a close I thought it’d be a good time to look back on the year, and also include all the things I’ve enjoyed using. This year has been fairly so-so for me. Nothing major has happened but there are a few things I want to work on in 2025. I found I’ve been more mindful with my purchases probably since Covid hit and this year is no different. I’ve been making use of the things I really enjoy instead of frivolously spending on things I don’t need. I concentrated most of my attention on perfumes instead
The Ordinary Glucoside Foaming Cleanser Review
I picked up The Ordinary’s Glucoside Foaming Cleanser recently to use with my Foreo Luna mini 2. I know that foaming is not indicative of performance, but I admit I do enjoy the bubbles – especially when paired with my facial cleansing brush. Having said that, this cleanser does not foam as much as others due to the absence of any sulphates. It’s a water-based cleanser and contains coco-glucoside and decyl glucoside. Coco-glucoside is a cleansing agent that can lift dirt and oils, made from fatty alcohol and sugar glucose. Decyl glucoside is a foaming surfactant. It has a gel-to-foam
Narciso Rodriguez For Her Musc Noir Eau De Parfum Review
Over the last year and a half or so I’ve found myself getting more and more into fragrance. Mostly because I still work from home the majority of the time and wearing a perfume is so much quicker and requires much less effort than putting on a full face of make up if I still want to feel put together. Don’t get me wrong, I still love my lipsticks and blush, but they take longer to apply in the mornings. While my collection is still quite modest, I’ve added a few perfumes this year which I’ve really enjoyed wearing. Narciso
My winter perfume picks
As winter rolls around I’ve rearranged my fragrance collection so my stronger, more full bodied (is that a term for perfume or just wine haha) perfumes are at the forefront. During the colder months I’m looking for something a bit heavier that can cut through the chilly winter air. I’m looking for oud, vanilla or amber bases. Something that feels warm and cosy. I also enjoy wearing sweeter fragrances during the winter, whereas in the warmer months I might find them cloying. Here is what I’ve been reaching for this winter so far, and what I’d like to know is,
Origins GinZing Refreshing Scrub Cleanser Review
I’ve recently finished the Refreshing Scrub Cleanser from Origins and thought I’d share my thoughts on it. I often used this cleanser in the mornings to exfoliate my skin. It has a bright citrus fragrance that I found really invigorating and uplifting for the day ahead. I really like the packaging, the squeezy tube did a good job at distributing the right amount of product and making sure I could use every last drop. The product has a gel like consistency and has a blend of coffee beans to wake up tired skin, and jojoba and carnauba wax unclogs pores
MAC Groundwork Paint Pot Review
You’ve probably heard of MAC’s Groundwork Paint Pot by now, or at least the Paint Pots MAC offer in general. If not – where have you been? The Paint Pots are an eye make up product, boasting a highly pigmented formula that performs as a cream eyeshadow or eye primer. The formula is waterproof and long lasting – delivering up to 15 hours wear. The Paint Pots come in a range of different colours. Groundwork is a slightly warm leaning taupe brown colour which works nicely as a wash of colour on your lids. It ‘s quite versatile and works
The INKEY List Hyaluronic Acid Cleanser Review
I have started using The INKEY List’s Hyaluronic Acid Cleaner during the colder months, as it claims to offer 48 hours of hydration. The cleanser is a blend of 1% hyaluronic acid, 1% inulin and 2% betaine in a gel like formula. It promises to plump cells with moisture, quench the skin’s thirst and make it look more radiant. The Hyaluronic Acid Cleanser is gentle and can be used for both a day time and night time cleanse. It comes in a 150ml bottle and retails at £12, but you can often find it on special offer. The INKEY List
