Affordable Heroes – Superdrug Blue Lip Balm Stick Review
The warmer weather is here, and while that might not be synonymous with dry, chapped lips, they need to be in top notch condition for those bright lip sticks. I’m no stranger to lip products. I’ve had quite a collection and have reviewed many on my blog. From the pricy Aesop Rosehip Seed Lip Cream to the more affordable Lanolips Lemonaid Lip Treatment. I think the basis of keeping your lips in tip top condition is exfoliating them. You can do this with a flannel or a lip scrub, I like the Barry M Watermelon Lip Scrub. I was looking
Affordable Heroes – Aussie Moisture Recharge Leave-In Conditioner Review
When I compared Denman’s Tangle Tamer and Tangle Teezer’s The Ultimate Detangler I spoke about how knotty my hair has become. I’m not really sure why. I spoke to a hairdresser and they shrugged and said my hair was healthy but sometimes the texture changes. Anyway, I know that having a good brush isn’t the be-all-and-end-all of tackling knotty hair. Treating it and using a good conditioner helps make my hair easier to detangle. Aussie Moisture Recharge Leave-In Hair Conditioner has ingredients such as Australian Macadamia Nut Oil to nourish hair and reduce frizz. It’s also enriched with potent antioxidants
Denman Tangle Tamer Brush vs The Ultimate Detangler by Tangle Teezer
I don’t know why but over the last year or so my hair has been getting so knotty after washing it. Maybe it’s a combination of things, and less frequent trips to the salon has definitely contributed. I used to spend ages going through my hair with a paddle brush and it was hell. Sometimes I had knots around the nape of my neck that seemed impossible to tackle. So I’ve invested in two detangling brushes, the Denman Tangle Tamer Brush and The Ultimate Detangler Brush by Tangle Teezer. I’ve had them both for a fair few months now and
Gucci Bloom Eau de Parfum Review
I remember a while ago I posted a comparison between Gucci Bloom and Diptyque Do Son. In my review I said I was less keen on Gucci Bloom but I’ve had some time with it and I’ve grown to really enjoy it now. Plus, it’s a good bit cheaper than Diptyque Do Son so I feel less bad wearing it often during the warmer months. Diptyque Do Son vs Gucci Bloom Gucci Bloom is a white floral perfume and mainly comprises tuberose and jasmine notes. It has a little rangoon creeper in the base – a note I am unfamiliar
Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Eau Fraiche Skinscent review
If you’re looking for the ultimate summer perfume – this might just be it. Estee Lauder’s Bronze Goddess, in the Eau Fraiche Skinscent version, is a beautiful warm tropical, solar floral, coconut perfume. It’s perfect for the warmer weather. Note though, this is the Eau Fraiche Skinscent. There are a few different versions of Bronze Goddess such as the eau de parfum, which smell a bit diffferent. This smells like sun cream and pina coladas, it perfectly encapsulates that “holiday in a bottle” feeling. To be honest, I get very little floral in the traditional sense. It doesn’t smell like
Affordable Heroes – NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams
I think the cost of living crisis is affecting a lot of us. I have to admit to feeling like I have less disposable income than I did a few years ago. As a result of this I’ve been weaving in some affordable beauty products that have either replaced some of my more expensive buys, or that I use when I can’t afford the higher end option. I thought it’d be interesting to start a series called “Affordable Heroes” where I share products that are reasonably priced and effective. The first of these is no stranger on this blog, it’s
Illamasqua Colour Veil in shade Frisson Review
Illamasqua Colour Veil is a hybrid blusher that has a jelly to cream type texture but offers the same high pigmentation of a powder blush. I recently bought one in the shade Frisson. They usually sell for £20 each but are on offer more often than not. I bought mine for £8 from LookFantastic (I actually had some credit left over so I think it cost me all of £1 in the end). The Colour Veils come in little frosted glass pots with a black glossy plastic lid. Looks can be deceiving and on first glance you might be thinking
L’Occitane Almond Shower Oil Review
This is probably one of the most luxurious shower products I’ve ever used. L’Occitane Almond Shower Oil is a golden oil which lathers when it comes into contact with water. The oil comes in a see through plastic squeezy bottle with a cap you can push up to pour it out. The bottle design complements the product well, although the oil has a fairly watery consistency, so you have to be careful when dispensing it. I’d say the watery consistency is rather deceptive as you don’t need very much at all. It thickens on contact with water, feeling more substantial
Benefit High Beam Liquid Highlighter Review
I think spring is definitely the time for glowy skin right? Benefit High Beam is a pearlescent pink liquid highlighter. You can wear it under make up, mixed with foundation, over make up or alone on bare skin. It gives a natural illumination look rather than anything dramatic. I love the simple but effective packaging. The doe foot applicator makes it easy to dab the product onto skin and the twist lid secures the product. The bottle is clear glass so you can easily see how much product you have left. I usually apply it to my cheekbones and gently
For the love of perfume samples
I’ve been thinking of writing this post for a while, following an online conversation with a chatbot that irked me slightly. If I’m spending £££ on a perfume, I want to be able to test it out first. Whether that’s a quick spritz in a department store, or buying a sample and testing it over a few days. I want to make sure that the perfume fits me, I enjoy wearing it, and feel comfortable wearing it. Longevity and projection are somewhat important depending on the circumstance. For example, I’m not too fussed if the perfume I wear to the
