Here is my review of the John Frieda Beach Blonde Sea Waves Sea Salt Spray (gosh, what a mouthful).
I bought the John Frieda Beach Blonde Sea Salt Spray in Boots for a reasonable £6.99 for 150ml of product. It’s great value, and it got excellent reviews online so I was excited to try it out. Ps – no you don’t have to be blonde to use it – I am assuming they’re just playing on that “surfer chick” stereotype.
The claim from John Frieda is ” John Frieda Beach Blonde Sea Waves Sea Salt Spray is a leave-in, non-drying formula. Enhances natural waves and increases grip and texture for carefree waves and beachy style, with a matte finish.”
On first spray, it has a distinctive coconut scent. It’s absolutely lovely and reminds me of sipping pina coladas on the beach. It doesn’t remind me of the sea, but definitely of sitting on the beach with a cocktail in hand. I spritzed the Sea Waves Sea Salt Spray through my towel-dried hair and waited.
John Frieda Beach Blonde Sea Waves Sea Salt Spray – The Verdict
With regards to the claim. It definitely enhances natural waves. My hair was certainly a bit wavier after using the John Frieda Beach Blonde Sea Salt Spray and it had slightly more volume, but that’s where it ends with regards to living up to the claim. It didn’t add any texture to my hair at all, and definitely did not leave a matte finish. It actually left my hair feeling more nourished too – it definitely did not have that stereotypical drying effect.
Would I recommend this product? If you have hair that is naturally inclined to a little wave, and perhaps you need a product that is more hydrating and less drying (like many sea salt sprays are), maybe this would be for you.
If you’re looking for a sea salt spray with plenty of salt that’s going to leave your hair ever so slightly drier for added texture – this won’t be for you. Also if you are sensitive to smells you might want to give this one a miss too, as it has a sweet scent that some might find sickly.
Have you ever tried the John Frieda Beach Blonde Sea Waves Sea Salt Spray? What did you think of it?
