My Autumn Perfume Picks

Autumn is one of my favourite times of year, not least because I get to dig out some of my favourite fragrances.

Over the summer I tend to gravitate towards lighter floral or citrus perfumes. But when the air starts getting chilly and the nights start drawing in, I look to my richer, deeper scents.

I also think I have more perfumes suited for cooler weather than warmer weather. They tend to be a bit stronger and project a little more too which I think you need to cut through the cold air. I’m wearing all the cosy vanillas, honey notes, spice and powder.

Here are a few of my perfumes I’ve been wearing (and will continue to wear) this autumn.

Burberry Goddess Eau de Parfum

I’ve spoken about this a few times on my blog but I really do love it. Burberry Goddess is a sweet vanilla with a hint of freshness from the lavender note. It’s so delicious and a perfect option for this time of year. I’ve reviewed Burberry Goddess in full here. This is just such a fantastic designer fragrance that is well priced and likeable.

Diptyque Orpheon Eau de Parfum

I feel like Orpheon is being talked about a lot and is the ultimate “cool person’s” fragrance. Diptyque’s Orpheon opens with a burst of juniper berries but dries down to a powdery woody fragrance that’s slightly reminiscent of fresh linens drying in the breeze.

Although I’d consider this quite a clean smelling fragrance, the powdery notes and tonka bean add a certain cosiness that I think works really well in the colder months.

Jo Malone Jasmine Sambac and Marigold Cologne Intense

This is another one I’ve been loving and have reviewed recently. From the name and notes you’d think this might be more of a warmer weather fragrance. This has notes of marigold, ylang ylang, jasmine, honey and benzoin. While it does have a fruity-floral facet, the honey and benzoin make this much richer and well suited to those cooler days and nights. I really love Jo Malone Jasmine Sambac and Marigold, it has such a elegant yet warm vibe.

Le Labo The Noir 29 Eau de Parfum

I’ll throw my hat into the ring and say I think this is the best Le Labo fragrance. The Noir 29 translates to “black tea” but I think it’s different and has much more depth than that. I’d feel overwhelmed wearing this in hot weather, but it sparkles in colder temperatures and projects really well.

The Noir is a rich, smoky concoction but I don’t smell very much tea in this. This has base notes of tobacco and hay, middle notes of cedar, vetiver and musk and top notes of fig, bay leaf and bergamot. I mostly get the tobacco, some sweetness from the fig and some woodiness. It’s absolutely delicious and unlike anything I’ve ever smelt before.

Nest Indigo Eau de Parfum

I’ve also been reaching a lot for Nest’s Indigo this autumn. It’s a delicious, jammy fig perfume that also has notes of tea. It also has just a hint of freshness and spice from the bergamot and cardamom.

Indigo is probably one of the sweeter fragrances I have in my collection but I really love it when I want to smell like a fruit tea and recommend it if you’re looking for something sweet and syrupy. You can read my full review of Nest’s Indigo here.

I’ll be wearing these for the next month or so until I swap out a few for my even deeper fragrances. Do you ever change out your perfume depending on the weather?
