I’ve had MAC’s Syrup lipstick for such a long time now. I’m not really sure why it has taken me until now to review it.

I’ve been so absent from the blog and these photos were taken a little while ago. Throughout the pandemic I’ve been spending a lot less (like most people, I suppose). My blog has mainly been reviews but I had nothing to review! I’m trying to think of what more to post but for a little while I have been drawing a blank. I’ve almost run out of existing products to talk about!

Anyway, I digress. MAC’s Syrup is part of their Lustre range. I’ve posted about the differences between MAC’s lipstick formulas before but put simply, the Lustre range offers a sheer but buildable coverage and a slight sheen finish.

MAC Syrup Lustre Lipstick – My Thoughts and Swatches

On the website, MAC’s Syrup is listed as a “Cloudy Pink”. I am not sure what I think about that. To me, it’s quite a cool-toned mid mauve-pink.

MAC Syrup Swatch

It may not look that cool-toned from the swatch, but on my lips is it much more apparent that it is a cool-toned mauve pink. It’s an everyday sort of colour really as it’s quite muted. However, it is buildable so I can quickly apply for a subtle look, or layer if I want something more dramatic. It has a semi-gloss finish.

MAC Syrup is comfortable on the lips, as the Lustre finish is formulated with Vitamin C and E. The only downside is that due to its creamy formula, it only lasts about three hours on the lips. It does fade evenly though, and its sheer formula means it is easy to reapply on the go.

MAC Syrup isn’t my favourite colour in the world. I generally tend to gravitate towards neutral or slightly warm-toned pinks. I tend to perceive cool toned pinks as being a bit too girly for me. However, if you’re looking for a comfortable to wear pink lipstick that leans slightly cool-toned, you could not go wrong with MAC’s Syrup.

MAC’s lipsticks retail for £17.50 for 3g worth of product.
