Jo Malone Cologne Intense Jasmine Sambac and Marigold

Firstly can I say how much I enjoy the Jo Malone Cologne Intense range. I have a few in my collection (Myrrh and Tonka, Jasmine Sambac and Marigold, and Velvet Rose and Oud). I’ve found them all to be likeable, and coming from the “Cologne Intense” range I’ve found they are reasonably long lasting. A common complaint from Jo Malone is a lot of the fragrances are fleeting, but these definitely aren’t.

Jasmine Sambac and Marigold is as the name suggests, a perfume where the main notes are Jasmine Sambac and Marigold. Jasmine Sambac is known to smell sweet, rich, slightly fruity and green and it definitely complements the marigold in this fragrance. The jasmine in this is the sweet, creamy kind rather than being overly animalic, although the opening is slightly more bitter than the dry down. This fragrance from Jo Malone also has notes of ylang ylang, honey and benzoin which give it a rich, resinous feel.

Although its top notes are fruity floral, the honey and benzoin give it some body and make this a year-round fragrance for me. I generally wear this in most weather, unless it’s hot and humid. I find that the honey and benzoin notes are too rich for me to wear on the warmest of days.

In terms of performance, I find I get around 8 hours on the skin. A few times I’ve sprayed this on clothes and can still smell it on them the next day. It has a moderate projection which I prefer as it means I can wear this on different occasions.

Jo Malone Jasmine Sambac and Marigold final thoughts

Overall I really like this fragrance. It’s versatile and likeable. I’d definitely recommend giving this a try if you enjoy a warm jasmine note in perfumes. At £116 for 50ml this sits on the pricy end of the scale, but I picked up my bottle from AllBeauty for £99.95 which is a bit of a saving.

A really easy to wear Jo Malone classic.
