Le Labo Bergamote 22

I picked up a travel size 15ml bottle of Le Labo’s Bergamote 22 about a month ago and plan to wear for the upcoming spring and summer months. I’ve worn it a few times now and here’s what I think so far.

In pure Le Labo style, this fragrance is pricy. The 15ml bottle comes in at £74, but if you shop around you can find it at a discount. It’s an eau de parfum concentration, and comes in a small glass bottle with a spray atomiser. I really like the clinical design of all Le Labo bottles.

From the Le Labo website, Bergamote 22 is described as:

This dazzling bergamot combines freshness, sweetness, and sensuality with acrobatic talent. All these qualities were encompassed in the perfume’s initial code name: “Fire Cologne”.
It’s the delicate floral character of petit grain, the bitterness of grapefruit, as well as the flamboyant sweetness of amber and musk with a virile touch of vetiver, which gives BERGAMOTE 22 its unique personality…

-Le Labo

On first spritz the fragrance is very zingy, zesty and fresh. To my nose, it smells like a combination of lime, lemon and grapefruit. I find a lot of citrus perfumes can veer into “cleaning product” territory but this doesn’t. It dries down more musky and woody, but I can still smell the citrus notes throughout.

In terms of performance, it’s definitely not “beast mode”. It’s a light, aromatic perfume although I disagree with people who say it’s fleeting, as I still get whiffs of it throughout the day. Projection is intimate, and only your nearest and dearest will be able to detect this on your skin.

I think Le Labo Bergamote 22 is the perfect fragrance for warmer weather. It’s not overly sweet or cloying, and the citrus scent is really uplifting. The muskiness and woodiness give it a bit more body, but it’s primarily a citrus dominant perfume to me.

I’d recommend this to anyone looking for a clean and fresh perfume for the summer. I think it’d suit any age and gender.

What perfume are you planning to wear during the warmer months?
