NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella – £22
Another red lipstick from NARS! This time in the colour “Cruella”, which is described on the NARS website as being “a passionate scarlet red”. I would agree with that description. It’s a deep, bold blue-based red that I feel will suit most skin tones.
Again, the NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella comes in a pencil form. This makes it easy to apply and it means you do not need to use a lip liner to get a precise application. On the downside, the NARS lip pencils are of an awkward size which means that they can only be sharpened with a NARS branded sharpener. This is an extra expense which isn’t too bad if you own a lot of NARS lip pencils, but is a bit annoying if you only have one.
NARS Cruella applies easily without tugging on the lips. It has excellent colour payoff and lasts a long time on the lips. I didn’t experience any feathering or bleeding wearing this lipstick. Towards the end of the day, it does tend to get slightly drying so I would recommend using a good lip balm underneath and a lip scrub to ensure there are no flakes on the lips!
