Tangle Teezer Wide Tooth Comb

You might have remembered me talking about how I’m currently struggling with knotty hair. I went to the hairdresser the other day who recommended some dry oil, so I will try that next. Anyway, I’ve been trying out the Tangle Teezer Wide Tooth Comb to really tackle those knots that other brushes seem to glide over. Here are my thoughts.

The Tangle Teezer Wide Tooth Comb is two sided. One featuring sturdy wide teeth to detangle and the other featuring more flexible, smaller teeth for deshedding. It comes in a few colours but I picked the purple and black version. I think it looks nice and it’s lightweight while still feeling sturdy. I usually use this comb while my hair is wet, and after I have spritzed some leave-in conditioner.

Tangle Teezer Wide Tooth Comb – My Thoughts

Tangle Teezer Wide Tooth Comb

I’ve found that the wide tooth side is really sturdy and effective at detangling knots. I have quite thick hair and a lot of it. Most brushes only seem to detangle the top layer, whereas this comb can really get into the knots at the nape of my neck. The other side, with the smaller more flexible teeth I find a bit less effective. As you can see from my pictures, some of the teeth have started to splay already, and I’ve only had this comb a month or so.

The wide tooth side is really fantastic at detangling. It’s much quicker at working through the knots than any of my other brushes, and it’s basically painless too.

Technically this comb is recommended for 3C or 4C hair types. These are characterised by being curly and texturised. This isn’t my hair type at all, I have wavy hair which is quite thick. But it works well at really tackling those knots, and I’d recommend it if you feel like your brush just goes over the knots rather than detangling them.

In short, I’d really recommend this comb if you feel like your current brush isn’t really reaching the knots to detangle them.

You can find this comb for £13 on LookFantastic, which I think is reasonable. What brush do you use?
