Diptyque Eau Rose Eau De Parfum Review

Diptyque Eau Rose Eau De Parfum

I love love love love rose perfumes and when I decide to mix up my scents I go hard. I only tend to buy perfume every three or so years. When I get the hankering for a new signature scent I do loads of research and dither over which ones to buy.

My thoughts on Diptyque

Established in 1961, Diptyque were mainly known for their candles, but they’ve branched out into perfumes, hair mists and skincare since then.

I really like Diptyque as a house. Their scents are interesting and all the ones I have smelt I have found wearable. I feel like some are quite distinctive such as Do Son or Philosykos. They feel contemporary but never “out there”. Usually, the scents are quite photorealistic.

Diptyque offer a range of eau de parfums and eau de toilettes. Many of their perfumes come in both concentrations, such as Eau Duelle, Eau Rose, L’Ombre Dans L’eau, Do Son. Some only come in one concentration such as L’Papier is an eau de toilette, and Orpheon is an eau de parfum.

It’s also important to note that it’s not just the strength of the potion that’s different. Sometimes the same perfume in eau de parfum and eau de toilette can be slightly different and include different notes. My version of Eau Rose is the eau de parfum version, and I haven’t smelt the eau de toilette to compare. Also, the packaging is different. the eau de toilettes come with a white label, whereas the eau de parfums have a black label and the glass around the edge is black. They all have images of what the scent is meant to depict on the bottle though.

Their eau de parfums cost £153 for 75ml and their eau de toilettes cost £95 for 50ml or £129 for 100ml. I don’t often see them on sale. I think I bought one of my Diptyques from Fenwick and got 10% off from signing up to their newsletter. They also sometimes offer special editions in lower volumes which are a bit cheaper.

My thoughts on Eau Rose Eau De Parfum

Eau Rose smells like a photorealistic rose with a twist. It opens quite herbacious but dries down to a realistic rose. The artichoke note creates a certain moodiness and the lychee and camomile adds depth and a bit of greenness. I find some rose perfumes can lean quite powdery and smell a little dated or musty, whereas here, the green notes stop that from happening. I’d say it was bold in terms of being distinctive but not obnoxious. It’s not a polarising scent in my opinion.

I’ve always considered rose a more daytime, spring / summer sort of smell but Eau Rose packs a punch and can definitely be worn during the evenings or throughout the colder months. That’s part of the reason why I like it so much, it seems to suit any season and is so wearable. I can’t imagine be spritzing something coconutty like Bronze Goddess during the colder months, but this I’d definitely wear, and I wore it throughout the summer too.

In terms of lasting power and sillage it’s pretty good. I can smell it on myself a good 6 hours after first spraying, and I can smell it on my clothes the morning after. While this leans more feminine there’s absolutely no reason why a man or anyone else can’t wear this scent.

All in all, I love this (and I knew I would as I bought a tester and did hours of research before). 10/10 and I’d recommend testing it if you’re looking for a modern twist on rose.

Have you ever tried anything from Diptyque?
